On Saturday, President-elect Abdel Latif Rashid sent a message to the country's political blocs.
Rashid said in a statement received by Mawazine News, "I may be the oldest of you and the oldest of you involved in political action opposing tyranny, but I am certainly only one of you. They did not realize the hope of living in a secure, strong and just Iraq, as I have known many martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the realization of this hope, and I live among ordinary citizens who want this hope to be realized, so I find myself obligated to invite you to a political dialogue in which no one is required to give up His goals and demands, but all I hope from him is to agree on a set of principles governing political action during this period that will preserve Iraq’s stability and citizens’ livelihood and security interests.”
He added: "I have seen leaders rise and fall, ministers enter power and others leave, parties sweep the street and then retreat and atrophy, so I do not see positions of value, but what remains is good performance, constructive work and justice in governance, and because I belong to the school of moderation and reconciliation since the sixties of the last century, I find it my duty to present this call that adopts open dialogue to stop escalation and tension, and I hope that your positions on it are positive, for if the call does not achieve the ceiling of our highest ambition.” Ended 29/R77
