Today, Sunday, the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee revealed the details of a meeting of the Parliamentary Economy and Integrity Committees with the President of the Investment Authority, Suha Al-Najjar, in the House of Representatives, while confirming that the meeting discussed many files and lasted for more than 3 hours.
Committee member Hussein Al-Sabri said, in a press interview seen by "Progress", that "the committee held an extensive meeting with the head of the Investment Authority, Suha Al-Najjar, who was hosted in the House of Representatives through the Integrity and Investment Committees."
He added, "The meeting during which many important topics were discussed, such as the scale of investments, the number of licenses that carry exceptions, the reasons for the exception, lagging projects and the withdrawal of projects, and what are the procedures of the Authority?, in addition to the file of the Korean Hanwha Company in charge of the Basmaya project."
A member of the Parliamentary Economy Committee explained that “the committee requested a full report on the Basmaya project, in addition to many stalled and lagging projects, knowing the reasons, percentages of completion, and the most prominent solutions reached by the Investment Authority,” noting that “the session was lengthy and amounted to more than three hours.”
And Al-Sabri, "The committee gave Al-Najjar a period of seven days to reveal all this information, but it objected by virtue of the large number of files and the authority's supervision of 2,600 projects in Iraq." According to the chief investment officer,
Parliamentary committees continue to exercise their oversight role, especially after the parliament sessions return by hosting the responsible executive bodies and demanding the disclosure of all corruption and waste of public money that occur in the ministries of the caretaker government.
