The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received a cable of congratulations from His Excellency the President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan Abdul Rahman, on the occasion of his election as President of the Republic.
The text of the telegram follows:

, on the occasion of your winning the confidence of the House of Representatives in your election as President of the sisterly Republic of Iraq, I would like to extend to you my sincere congratulations and best wishes for success and fulfillment in your lofty tasks in continuing the process of construction, development and leadership of the Iraqi people For further development and prosperity.I
