, a member of the House of Representatives, Hassan Wrayush Al-Asadi, said, on Saturday, that the problem of delaying employee salaries in the event of no budget approval will be addressed by Parliament, noting that approving the new budget for next year is one of the top priorities of the new government headed by Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
Al-Asadi added in an interview with the official “Al-Sabah” newspaper, which was followed by Mawazine News, that “there are many challenges that the next year’s budget will carry, including dealing with the exchange rate and providing job grades within the deletion and creation, especially with a rise in oil prices,” adding that “all these The challenges should have been addressed in the 2022 budget, but political tensions prevented that.”
Al-Asadi revealed “the readiness of the 2023 budget, but that there is no finance minister or government that can discuss and vote on it and transfer it to the House of Representatives,” warning that “the delay in approving it is not only in the interest of the employees, but also the delay in addressing the problem of unemployment and social welfare salaries and the provision of job grades.”
Al-Asadi continued, "Iraq went through a real crisis when this year's budget was not approved, and the draft food security law came with specific paragraphs, and all segments of the people did not benefit from it," explaining that it "came to facilitate the situation regarding the issue of electricity, trade and projects in the provinces."
Al-Asadi expected, "the difficulty of approving the budget according to the existing conditions," noting that "it was supposed to be discussed since last September to be approved at the beginning of the year, but political problems always cause delays in passing it until April and it will be implemented in June or July, which leads to delays in projects." .
