    Today, Saturday, the Najaf Investment Commission announced the start of the implementation of the first iron and steel project of its kind in Iraq.
    The director of the authority, Durgham Kiko, stated that "the Iraqi company (Barley Corn) for general trading, which is specialized in building such factories, has started today, deep in the Najaf desert, in implementing the first iron and steel factory of its kind in the country."
    And he indicated that "the factory is located in the area designated for major industries, and is more than 30 kilometers away from the center of the city of Najaf."
    He explained that "the cost of the project amounted to 130 million dollars from the company's invested funds and not from the state's funds," noting that "the project implementation period is three years and an investment period of up to 41 years."
    Kiko stressed, "The project will provide more than 500 job opportunities, and will contribute to filling the market's need for basic materials that it constantly demands."
