Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States the importance of promoting joint Arab action, while exchanging positions supporting balance in the region.

The two sides discussed "the importance of strengthening joint Arab action and unifying positions regarding the challenges facing the Arab countries. They also discussed the diplomatic means pursued by Iraq within the tripartite coordination mechanism between Baghdad, Amman and Cairo, strengthening common economies, and exchanging positions that support balance in the region."

The two sides discussed "a number of important files, most notably Iraq's relationship with neighboring countries, as well as with Turkey and Iran, the issue of ending the Syrian crisis by adopting dialogue, a political solution that leads to stabilization, and Syria's return to occupy its seat in the League of Arab States."

Hussein stressed, "Iraq faces multiple challenges, calling for concerted Arab efforts to overcome them."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States congratulated the minister "on the occasion of forming the new government and renewing confidence in him as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, praising the role that Iraq plays in promoting joint Arab action, and that the League supports Iraq with all its aspirations."
