    Today, Monday, the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Jabr Al-Alawi, chaired at the Ministry's headquarters the thirteenth session of the opinion board, which is the first meeting after assuming the duties of his position.

    A ministry statement received by the National Center stated that "the topics included in the meeting's agenda and topics related to the agricultural plan for the current winter season were discussed and appropriate decisions were taken, in the presence of the agents, advisors and members of the authority." 
    Al-Alawi stressed "the importance of developing appropriate solutions to meet the challenges that stand in the way of the development of agricultural activity, which contribute to increasing agricultural yields and providing the necessary requirements for the agricultural process in order to secure sustainable food security and support the national economy." 
    The statement added that "the opinion panel discussed a number of topics on the meeting's agenda, took appropriate decisions and discussed agricultural requirements based on the law on emergency support for food security, which includes funding the ministry and supporting farmers, including dab fertilizer, which requires providing and distributing it to farmers and farmers."

    He pointed out that "the authority voted to provide dab fertilizer and buy it in a direct negotiation manner from the sources that provide it in a quick period of time and within the specified timelines, and the need to increase the percentage of support for farmers to be 50% instead of 35%, and the matter was presented to the esteemed Council of Ministers to obtain its approval."
    The statement indicated that “the opinion committee discussed the operations of receiving the yellow corn crop in the fall by the Mesopotamia State Seed Company, the Iraqi Company for Seed Production and the private sector companies, according to their treasury capacities, and as of the first of November 2022, and the issue of stopping agricultural aircraft for Work and form a committee from the ministry to study the proposals submitted and present them to the honorable Council of Ministers to obtain approval regarding the repair and to proceed with the contract with the French Airbus.”
    According to the statement, the authority agreed to “support Japan’s candidacy for the position of regional representative for Asia in the Standing Committee (SC) in the technical field, as the regional representative will be identified at the Conference of Parties (CITES COP 19), which will be held in Panama for the period from 14 to 25 November 2022.”
