    Economy News - Baghdad

Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received, on Wednesday, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Japanese Parliament, Takagi Kei, and his accompanying delegation.
The two sides discussed, according to a statement by Al-Sudani's office, "the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to consolidate them. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues of common interest, and Iraq's leading role in the region."
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation in various economic and cultural fields, as well as in the fields of energy and investment.
Al-Sudani called on Japanese companies to "widely participate in investment through renewable energy projects and gas investment, as well as reactivating the technical agreements and the joint economic committee between the two countries."
For his part, Kii congratulated Al-Sudani, "on the occasion of assuming his duties as prime minister, and achieving political and economic reforms in a way that achieves the country's development and prosperity," noting "Japan's aspiration to strengthen relations between the two friendly countries."
He stressed that "Japan has gone through conditions similar to what Iraq went through," calling for "to benefit from Japan's experience in reconstruction and erasing the effects of wars."
