    the CP 27 Climate Summit in Sharm El Sheikh  Environment Agency Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi and head of the delegation participating in the summit stated that Iraq will focus on important issues including drought, desertification and declining water revenues, considering that the Climate Change Conference or the so-called Earth Summit Conference is one of the most important international conferences concerned with environmental and climate affairs, which Iraq joined.










    Al-Hasnawi added that Iraq presented a national strategy to confront climate change for a period of 10 years. In this strategy, which was called the Iraqi NDC contribution, we made commitments to reduce emissions by one to two percent with a national effort and focus on reducing emissions in the oil and gas sectors with a focus on encouraging the transition to renewable energies and mitigating Reliance on fossil fuels as the main source of energy.


    For his part, the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Jassim Al-Falahi, confirmed that the delegation has a special paper and a mechanism for work. The negotiating delegation was built in cooperation with the United Nations, especially the United Nations Development Program, hoping that Iraq would emerge from this conference with recommendations that support its efforts to preserve its water and food security and preserve Environmental security in general and facing the reality and reality of the impact of climate change, adding that civil society organizations and the private sector for the first time have participation in various disciplines and our real goal is to encourage the private sector to invest in the field of renewable energies and environmental fields and confront pollution in addition to the rational and integrated management of waste
