, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani issued a directive today, Thursday, regarding the desalination project in Basra.
The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by Mawazine News that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired, today, Thursday, a meeting on the desalination project to provide drinking water in Basra, which included the Governor of Basra, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and the Director General of the Water Department in the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Advisors to the Prime Minister.
He added, "The meeting witnessed a review of previous decisions and steps taken by the authorities concerned with the Basra water file, and discussion of the mechanisms required to fundamentally solve the water problem."
After listening to the legal and technical views, Al-Sudani directed, according to the statement, “to hold a meeting at the beginning of next week in the presence of representatives from the ministries of housing and municipalities, electricity, oil and the advisory body and in the presence of the Austrian consultant ILF, to develop an urgent plan for the completion of an integrated project that includes desalinating drinking water and generating electric power And the provision of water to raise the capacities of the oil reservoirs.” Ended 29 / AD 99
