Today, Wednesday, the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate called on the governor of Kirkuk to allocate plots of land to its members in the Kirkuk branch, similar to the rest of Iraqi journalists.
In an official letter addressed to the governor of Kirkuk, the union said, “Based on Cabinet Decision No. 419 of 2019, allocating plots of land for employees of the governorate’s departments and journalists from the people of Kirkuk.”
She added, "We, as the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate Council, have a branch in Kirkuk, and it has distinguished and field members, and they have an honorable role in communicating events and developments in Kirkuk Governorate."
And she continued, "You are kindly requested to look into the matter and allocate a percentage of these lands to the journalists who are members of the Kirkuk branch of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, and not to deprive them of these allocations like their Iraqi peers."
In its letter to the governor, the union pointed out that “your cooperation with us is evidence of your keenness on unity and peaceful coexistence within Kirkuk governorate.”
The director of the Kirkuk municipality, Fereydoun Adel, had announced in March 2021 that procedures are continuing to produce and plan the lands allocated to journalists, like the rest of the covered segments.
