His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, a delegation that included elite Iraqi academics, analysts, journalists, and writers.
At the outset of the meeting, the members of the delegation congratulated the President on his election as President of the Republic, pointing out that the election of His Excellency ended the political impasse in the country, expressing optimism that the Presidency of the Republic under the shadow of President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid would be an extension of the path of His Excellency former President Jalal Talabani, while Mr. President appreciated the good feelings of the delegation members.
His Excellency the President of the Republic stressed the important role played by academics, media professionals, and writers in the country by conveying the voice of the citizen to the official authorities, as well as evaluating and enriching government work through studies and research in various specialties, especially in the economic aspect, stressing his desire to view studies and research issued by elites and competencies. Iraq and benefit from it.
Mr. President pointed out the need to give attention and support to academics, thinkers and journalists, to benefit from their experiences to enhance the work of state institutions, pointing to the importance of standards of professionalism and objectivity, protecting civil and societal peace, and rejecting division and rumors that seek to disturb public opinion.
President Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid also pointed to the great sacrifices made by Iraqi journalists and media professionals over the past years in order to spread the free word, pointing to the need to provide all the necessary requirements needed by the journalistic work in the country and to protect journalists and media professionals in a way that enables them to perform their humanitarian message objectively and professionally.
