The Ministry of Planning confirmed, on Tuesday, Iraq's success in overcoming the crisis of the high prices of agricultural crops in the world, against the backdrop of the (Russian-Ukrainian) war, which entered its ninth month.
The Director General of the Department of Regional Development in the Ministry, Muhammad Mohsen Al-Sayed, said, "Iraq, despite the difficult circumstances that the entire world passed through, was able to succeed in overcoming the barrier of the Corona pandemic and the crisis of the high prices of agricultural crops in the world against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which entered its ninth month."
And he continued, "Iraq succeeded in overcoming the political crisis and moving towards the new government program prepared by the ministries, including planning during this week," stressing, "to proceed according to real and studied plans aimed at bridging development gaps within the districts and districts in the governorates, in order to succeed in facing crises," according to the official newspaper.
He pointed out that "there are attempts to find specific mechanisms to enhance the role of agricultural production and better reuse of land through projects," pointing to "the ministry's contribution to allocating lands in desert areas and irrigating them with drip technology, as a contribution to reducing the impact of climate change in the country."
He added, "Iraq, despite the various problems that occurred during the current and previous years, was able to buy wheat and barley crops from farmers at a price higher than the global market prices in support and encouragement for them," stressing that "there are vigorous efforts to ensure Iraq's share of water through fixed agreements with neighboring countries".
