Baghdad / bright news
Yesterday, Monday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed two plans, the first is emergency and the other is strategic, in order to increase processing hours, pointing out that it is carrying out maintenance on a number of units.
“The Ministry of Electricity has distributed all duties to its sectors in production, transmission and distribution,” said ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa.
Moussa added, in a statement to Al-Mada, that "the plan included the introduction of obstetric units, an intensive maintenance program to complete periodic and emergency maintenance."
He pointed out, "The ministry seeks to have obstetric units ready to keep pace with the peak of winter and then summer loads."
Moussa pointed out, to "completing the distributions for the transportation sector and preparing the transformer stations in order for the transmission lines to drain the produced energies, and for the transport networks to achieve sufficient availability for the disposal of these energies."
And he talked about “strict directives issued to the distribution sector in order to remove bottlenecks, change transformer capacities, rehabilitate and strengthen distribution networks, and install fixed and transformative stations in load centers to keep pace with the increase in demand.”
Moussa stressed, "The ministry's plan seeks to maintain the achieved generation with stability to maintain production and electricity supply hours, and then seeks to increase."
And he continues, "The plan included a number of priorities, namely the completion of some projects in which the completion rate reached 70 to 80%, and others that are lagging."
And Musa went on, "The work also includes completing the installation of installed stations and cooling systems, so the preparation will be urgently and strategically to receive the peak of winter and summer loads."
Energy researcher Faisal Saddam said, in an interview with (Al-Mada), that "Iraq needs annually 1,000 megawatts to keep pace with the increase in demand."
Saddam continued, "The current increases in production are not considered a plan," explaining that "the plan must include achieving self-sufficiency, which determines that Iraq needs 31,000 megawatts."
And he indicated, “The current production, according to the statements of the Ministry of Electricity, is 23,000 megawatts, and the ministry’s readiness is to add a thousand megawatts next summer, and this does not mean filling the total need.
