The Revolutionary Guard targeted the sites of the Kurdish parties in the Iraqi Kurdistan region with a missile attack. At the same time, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry threatened that the next Revolutionary Guard attacks would be on cities, villages and residential areas in this region.
The Iranian regime’s first official reaction to these attacks was Nasser Kanaani, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, who said that the next attacks would target “populous areas” in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Kanani added that the Bakirjo area in Sulaymaniyah and the village of Topuzabad are among the areas inhabited by ordinary citizens, and "we will definitely target them in the upcoming operations."
He threatened the people of these areas that if they wanted to restore their security, they must renounce these “terrorists.”
These threats come at a time when the new round of attacks has resulted, according to what the Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Region, Saman Barzanji, has killed at least one person and injured 8 people.
In his condemnation of this attack, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, described the victims as “martyrs” and stressed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards attack today is a violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan region.
The official for relations in the Democratic Party, Muhammad Salih Qadri, announced in an interview with “Iran International” that several other points around this camp were subjected to missile attacks.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region denounced the new attacks of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, describing them as "a clear violation of the national sovereignty of the Kurdistan region and the lands of Iraq."
Referring to the protests and unrest, the Ministry of Higher Education in Iraqi Kurdistan said that the ministry is closely following the conditions of its students in Iran.
It was reported that following these attacks, the Komala party camps in Sulaymaniyah were hit by missile attacks.
At the same time, the United Nations office in Iraq denounced "repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks on the Kurdistan region" and described them as a violation of Iraqi sovereignty. He warned, "Iraq should not be used as an arena for settling scores, and its territorial integrity must be taken into account."
It is noteworthy that the attacks, which were confirmed by the Fars News Agency of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, were carried out with missiles and drones.
Since late September, the Revolutionary Guards have targeted the sites and camps of Iranian Kurdish parties in the Iraqi Kurdistan region several times with missiles and suicide drones.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces began their attacks on Saturday, September 24, in response to the Iranian people's uprising against the Islamic Republic, which began with a call for Kurdish parties to strike Kurdish cities in Iran.
The attacks killed at least 17 people, including women and children, and injured dozens of others. Reports also indicated that during these attacks, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards targeted a school.
These attacks continued despite warnings from the United States and the United Nations.
In a statement, the US State Department "strongly condemned" the "shameful" attacks by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the Kurdistan region, and said: "These attacks are an unjustified violation of Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed his concern about the bombing of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, including the bombing of civilian areas, and called for an immediate de-escalation and respect for Iraq's sovereignty, territorial integrity and the principle of good neighborliness.
