Amid doubts about the seriousness of eliminating corruption.. the fastest release in Iraq of a businessman!

Social media platforms in Iraq were filled with harsh criticism of the executive and judicial authorities, and sarcastic comments, following the release of Iraqi businessman Ali Ghulam, accused of corruption, a few hours after his arrest.
And the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced - last Friday - the arrest of Ali Ghulam, director of the Middle East Bank, at Baghdad International Airport, coming from Lebanon, stressing that the arrest procedures were carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 456 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
Hours after the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of the businessman, local media published news that he had been released on “bail”, at a time when the private office of Ghulam issued a statement announcing his release.
The statement said: “The arrest warrant issued against Ali Ghulam dates back to 2015, following a financial dispute with a complainant from the people of Sulaymaniyah,” explaining that “the dispute was resolved by legal reconciliation with the complainant since that time.”
Commenting on this, politicians and bloggers described Ghulam's release as possibly the shortest arrest process in history, and the fastest release of a figure with great suspicions of corruption, amid doubts about the Iraqi government's seriousness in eliminating corruption.
Tweeters were surprised by the completion of the process of releasing the accused on Friday, which is an official holiday in Iraqi institutions, suggesting the intervention of influential political parties in the process of his rapid release.
Commenting on the matter, a member of the Iraqi Parliament, Majed Shankali, said - through his Twitter account - "It is very likely that the release of Ali Ghulam on bail will enter the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest case on bail in the world. Much simpler cases than these take at least a week to release the accused, But money, and what makes you aware of the power and power of money?
Legal expert Ahmed Al-Ziyadi commented, saying, “The judiciary should not hasten to release Ali Ghulam on bail, as dozens of corrupt cases are hovering around this man, and he had to allow the executive authority to keep him pending investigation, and scrutiny to reach facts related to the billions of dollars that have been made.” Looting it from the currency auction in crooked ways.”
Meanwhile, Representative Mustafa Jabbar Sanad accused - during a television interview - Ghulam of controlling the auction window for selling currency in the Central Bank of Iraq, through its affiliated banks, describing Ghulam's financial earning method as "horrific," as he put it.
The Central Bank of Iraq recently decided to stop dealing in US dollars with 4 Iraqi banks, namely: Al-Ansari Islamic Bank for Investment and Finance, Islamic Holding, Asia Iraq Islamic, and Iraqi Middle East Investment, 3 of which belong to Ghulam, according to local media.
