The Iranian embassy in Baghdad denied, on Tuesday, the existence of any “Iranian military mobilization” on the common border with Iraq.
The Iranian embassy said in an official statement that it denies the existence of any military preparation to launch a ground operation against the Kurdish separatist parties stationed in the north of the country.
The Iranian ARAB news agency said, in a news report that it reported and translated (Baghdad Today), that the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem al-Sadiq, affirmed that his country “fully respects Iraqi national sovereignty and has worked tirelessly to ensure the stability and unity of the Arab country to prepare its ground for prosperity.”
He continued, "We categorically deny the reports that talked about the presence of Iranian military mobilization on the Iraqi borders, in preparation for launching a land invasion."
Al-Sadiq added, "We handed the Iraqi authorities a seventy-page report that includes evidence of the armed presence of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties stationed in the Kurdistan region of Iraq."
He also made it clear that the government in Baghdad was asked to move to expel these fanatical groups from the areas near the Iranian border.
Al-Sadiq concluded, without giving further details, that “discussions between Baghdad and Tehran are still continuing until this moment, with the aim of removing the threat of these armed parties.”
A senior security source had revealed to (Baghdad Today) earlier the truth about the Iranian military build-up on Iraq's eastern borders. He explained that "there are no Iranian military build-ups on the border with Iraq on the Diyala side, and what some social media platforms have reported is inaccurate."
