On Thursday, the Digital Media Center revealed that the data of 17 million WhatsApp accounts from Iraq had been leaked.

The center said in a statement, "There is a leak in the data of 487 million active WhatsApp users, including 17 million numbers from Iraq."

And the center confirmed that "the leak includes 84 countries after a person claimed to have the active database and published an advertisement about it in the well-known hacking community forum, while independent sources confirmed the validity of these allegations."

And the center stated that "the data does not include pictures of the phone, but rather the number, perhaps the location, and other information that can be targeted with ads," adding that "the Meta company has not commented on the news of the leaks so far."
