The Parliamentary Transportation and Communications Committee confirmed that the reduction in the prices of mobile phone cards is the result of continuous meetings between the committee, the Ministry of Communications and government agencies.
Committee member Ghassan Al-Eidani said in a press interview, "The committee continued to hold intensive meetings, and hosted the Communications Authority in this regard, as one of the priorities on offer was to reduce the tax rate."
He pointed out, "These taxes do not go to companies, but rather to the government, as companies raised prices at the government's request for a percentage during the decline in oil prices during the time of Haider al-Abadi."
He pointed out, "Raising them came to reduce the deficit, and that the financial situation of Iraq is now good, so it was agreed to reduce those taxes."
