Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, described the current federal government headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani as "strong and capable of holding anyone who deviates from its path accountable," stressing Iraq's endeavor to restore relations between neighboring countries, especially between Iran and the Gulf states .
Hussein said, in an interview with the Bahraini newspaper, Al-Watan, which was published in its Sunday edition, that "our relations with neighboring Iran are strong, and we, in fact, through many times, seek to restore Iranian-Gulf relations because that is in the interest of Iraq, because whenever there is security." In the region, collective security in the region reflects positively on the security situation inside Iraq, so we seek to restore relations between neighboring countries, and in this context the first Baghdad conference was held, and the second edition of the Baghdad conference will be held in Jordan, and Bahrain will be present at that conference. .
Hussein spoke about the governmental program of the Iraqi government, saying, "The new government emphasized in its program work to serve Iraqi citizens, build the economy, diversify the economy, and create job opportunities for youth."
He added, "This program will be implemented and there is strong support for this new government, especially political support from all political parties, and there is also strong parliamentary support from the House of Representatives, and therefore there is a program for the government, whether an agreed political program, as well as an agreed government program from during the government coalition.
And the Foreign Minister added, "We look forward to the new government providing great services to the Iraqi citizen and people, and building the Iraqi economy, especially since we have large revenues from selling oil, and therefore all the reasons and foundations that lead to building the Iraqi economy and providing services are available at this stage."
In the context of the Foreign Minister's answer about the Iraqi parties and the association of some of them with Iran, Hussein said, "The parties have certain ideologies, which may agree in ideology with another country, and this is permitted in the democratic system."
The minister went on to say, "But the basic political decision in Iraq, and decision-making, is in the hands of the Iraqi government, and the executive decision as well, and there are different parties, but the result is that there is a coalition situation between the parties, and in the democratic case we have secular parties, and parties from the Kurdish component, and from the Sunni component." And from the Shiite component, all these parties exist, so we do not hold the parties accountable on the basis of ideology, but we are held accountable on the basis of loyalty to the homeland and Iraq, and therefore the Iraqis’ loyalty to their homeland.
He noted that "the tensions that existed in the region between Iran and America during the rule of former President Donald Trump were reflected in the Iraqi arena, and we were not with Trump's policy and did not support his decisions, and therefore the tensions between Washington and Tehran during Trump's rule moved to the Iraqi arena."
He was asked about the role of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and he replied, “It is part of the General Command and the Armed Forces, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is the Prime Minister by virtue of the constitution. And the current government is able to face any crises, but as a result we are managing these crises and are in the process of resolving them," pointing out that "the current Iraqi government is a strong coalition government, and it enjoys support, and it can take any measures against anyone who deviates from the right government track."
