The Central Bank of Iraq said, on Sunday, that a delegation from the US Treasury Department praised its measures in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
The media office of the bank stated, in a statement received by the National News Center, that the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, received today Jesse Baker, Assistant Deputy Secretary of the US Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Crimes, and his accompanying delegation.
He added, “During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation between the two institutions and discussed the application of international standards in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, and the central bank’s commitment to them, in addition to applying due diligence from other government institutions in this file. In addition to efforts to enhance financial inclusion and keep the banking sector in line with global developments.
