The Dhi Qar Oil Company announced the completion of the drilling of 6 oil wells in the Nasiriyah field within a contract concluded with the Iraqi Drilling Company, which includes drilling 20 wells to develop production in the field, and while confirming the progress in rehabilitating and developing the oil fields, it revealed a plan to launch oil production in the Subah field. In the middle of next month, at the rate of 25,000 barrels per day.
The Director General of the Dhi Qar Oil Company, Eng. Ali Khudair Abbas Al-Aboudi, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that “6 oil wells have been completed in the Nasiriyah field, and work is underway in 3 oil towers within a contract concluded with the Iraqi Drilling Company since 2021, which includes drilling 20 wells.” Noting that "the contract, which entered into force in 2022, aims to develop and increase production capacity in that field."
Al-Aboudi added, “The Iraqi Drilling Company signed a contract with (Watherford) Oil Services Company for the purpose of facilitating the process of importing pipes, bags (lining of oil wells), well heads, and chemicals involved in the development of the oil industry, as well as logistical operations and other materials,” noting that “work It continues well at the present time, after witnessing tribal obstacles and objections at first.”
The Dhi Qar Oil Company had announced, last April, that the Nasiriyah oil field expansion project had entered into force after the start of drilling the first of the twenty new oil wells.
In a statement received by (Al-Mada), it said, “The Iraqi Drilling Company has begun drilling the first well in the Nasiriyah oil field, as part of a contract with Weatherford International Oil Services Company to drill (20) wells,” stressing “the continuation of work to drill other wells.”

He pointed out that "the staff of the department conducted hydrostatic tests for the pipes of the new tanks added to the Nasiriyah isolation station, which is an important and new source of the production process."

It comes after it in terms of importance, the Al-Gharf oil field, the Abu Amoud field (Al-Rafidain) and the Sabbah field.
