The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed today, Thursday, the importance of uniting ranks and joining efforts in order to establish security and stability and protect the foundations of peaceful coexistence among all components and spectra of the Iraqi people.
The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, the latter, "received at the Baghdad Palace, the Patriarch of the Chaldeans in Iraq and the world, His Eminence Cardinal Mar Louis Raphael Sako and his accompanying delegation."
According to the statement, the President of the Republic stressed "the importance of uniting ranks and joining efforts in order to establish security and stability and protect the foundations of peaceful coexistence among all components and spectrums of the Iraqi people," noting that "the unity of Iraqis with all their components is the main pillar for consolidating true citizenship that supports civil and societal peace."
The president praised "the courageous stances of the people of the Christian religion in Iraq and their sacrifices in confronting the forces of terrorism, and their sincere adherence to their national identity," indicating their historical role and effective contributions in building Iraq and enriching the country's cultural heritage.
In turn, Patriarch Sako congratulated the President on his election as President of the Republic, stressing his support for His Excellency's efforts to strengthen the bonds of national cohesion among all the people of this country in order to ensure stability and peace.
