[size=45]Yesterday, Wednesday, the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Jabr Al-Olayawi, announced obtaining approval to compensate seven governorates affected by the 2018 rains. While he indicated that pivotal and fixed sprinkler systems are few and do not meet the needs of farmers, he affirmed full support for the livestock sector.[/size]
[size=45]Al-Olayawi said in a speech during his visit to Babil Governorate, which was followed by (Al-Mada), “We have worked since we took over the ministry to support the peasant segment.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, “This is through several steps, and we issued decisions from the Council of Ministers to support fertilizers and pesticides, as fertilizers were subsidized by 50%, pesticides by 75%, and vaccines by 100%.”[/size]
[size=45]Al-Olaywi indicated that “the compensation decision was obtained for seven governorates that were previously affected by the rains in 2018, in the hope that they will be included in the 2023 budget.”[/size]
[size=45]And while he pointed out that “the agricultural sector enhances the economy and development if this file is managed successfully and effectively,” he indicated that “the ministry is serious about having this sector play a major role in the development process and providing job opportunities.”[/size]
[size=45]Al-Alaywi confirmed, "The ministry had a step to support the Ministry of Agriculture's segment of veterinarians and agricultural engineers."[/size]
[size=45]And he talked about the completion of “all procedures that do justice to this segment and awaiting their inclusion in the next budget because they are covered by the Medical Graduation Law.”[/size]
[size=45]Al-Olayawi explained, “The ministry has embarked, within its 2023 plan, to go towards pivot or fixed sprinkler systems.”[/size]
[size=45]He regretted that "these systems are few and insufficient and do not meet the needs of farmers, especially in the central and southern governorates." Al-Alaywi stated, “The ministry has a decision from the Council of Ministers to fully support the spraying project by modern methods, to include irrigated lands.”[/size]
[size=45]He noted, "There are preliminary memorandums of understanding in this matter with a regional company in order to establish a factory in Iraq."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Alaywi explained, “The ministry also has a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Industry in order to provide pivot sprinklers through soft loans from the Agricultural Bank.” And he pointed out, "The ministry had a presence and interest in the livestock and poultry sector, and there was a visit to the yellow corn factory in Babylon."[/size]
[size=45]And Al-Alaywi went on to say, “The Ministry of Agriculture has directed to provide breeders with fodder, with full support for the livestock sector.”[/size]
[size=45]In addition, a statement by the ministry, received by (Al-Mada), stated that “the Ministry of Agriculture announced the launch of processing yellow fodder corn for breeders.”[/size]
[size=45]The statement added, “This is in the Kut and Al-Azizia factories, within Wasit Governorate, which are affiliated with the Mesopotamia General Seed Company.” And he pointed out, "This procedure took place after the success of laboratory tests of samples of fodder yellow corn grains in the laboratory by the Department of Animal Resources."[/size]
[size=45]And the statement went on, “The ministry calls, through the company, to all breeders to expedite the receipt of their prescribed shares, according to the books issued by the directorates of agriculture.”[/size]
[size=45]The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that it will make every effort to sustain the agricultural process and provide the necessary supplies for the agricultural plan for the current agricultural season.[/size]
[size=45]A statement by the ministry stated, “Al-Alyawi was briefed on the plan to provide and receive al-Dab fertilizer, according to the agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture - the General Company for Agricultural Supplies and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals - the General Company for Southern Fertilizers.” And he pointed out, “Al-Alaywi was also briefed on the mechanism of receiving, processing and distributing them to the farmers and farmers included in the agricultural plan for the agricultural season 2022-2023 in order to ensure its success and to develop solutions to the obstacles facing the progress and development of the agricultural sector.”[/size]
