The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, received the heads of delegations participating in the Forum of Ancient Civilizations and International Organizations, which started today, Sunday, in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of ten countries.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani referred, according to a statement by his media office, to "Iraq's civilized role throughout history, where the Mesopotamian civilization enacted the first laws regulating human life," stressing that "the new Iraq seeks to keep pace with development in the international system, on the humanitarian and legal levels, and is open to cooperation." With all international parties and specialized organizations.
And he indicated "the possibility of drafting bilateral memorandums of cooperation between Iraq and the member states of the forum, in the field of culture and antiquities," calling for "assisting Iraq in documenting its human heritage, through the reconstruction of archaeological sites, and developing the competence of Iraqi cadres in this field."
The Prime Minister said: "The principles and objectives for which the Forum was established can be invested in as a message in the face of extremist and racist ideology to renounce hate speech and violence, as a pioneering platform to spread the discourse of unity among peoples, given that man is the supreme goal of all countries of the world."
Al-Sudani stressed that "the forum represents an opportunity for these countries to strengthen their relations at the political, cultural and economic levels, and to cooperate in taking positions to preserve the cultural and civilizational heritage of our countries, support cultures and civilizations, restore looted antiquities, exchange experiences and maintain archaeological sites."
