Shafaq News/ Today, Tuesday, the Parliamentary Health Committee demanded the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, to intervene and resolve the crisis of the Nineveh Health Department, indicating that more than 30,000 employees are waiting for their suspended salaries.
A member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Majed Shankali, said during a press conference held in the parliament building, which was attended by Shafaq News agency's correspondent, that "the employees in the Nineveh Health Department have not received their salaries until today, due to a deficit in financing the salaries of the Nineveh Health Department, which amounts to 11 billion dinars."
Shankali added, "There are more than 30,000 employees in the Nineveh Health Department who have not received their salaries, and the Ministry of Health must present the issue in the cabinet meeting, resolve the issue, and work to expedite the payment of the salaries of these employees."
And the member of the committee added that "the Nineveh Health Department has not had any operating expenses for three months, with the suspension of purchasing equipment, supplies and services in hospitals and health centers in the province."
Shankali called for the need to "resolve the issue, given that the issue is related to the lives of citizens, and that the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, has focused on the issue of health since the first day of his appointment by visiting hospitals in evening rounds, and he must solve the problem of the Nineveh Health Department related to financing salaries and operating expenses."
A member of the Parliamentary Investment Committee called on the Council of Ministers to "solve the problem and fill the deficit in the Nineveh Health Department. They also resolved the deficit, funded the National Security Agency and paid their salaries."
And the Nineveh Health Department announced, on December 2, 2022, that it had a deficit estimated at 11 billion dinars, while it officially demanded the intervention of the Council of Ministers to solve its financial deficit due to its direct impact on the salaries of employees and the various aspects of work in the department.
Governmental health institutions are witnessing a deterioration in their service reality, which prompted Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, since the beginning of his establishment, to direct a harsh criticism of those in charge of this sector during a visit he made to a hospital in the capital, Baghdad.

On the other hand, a representative source revealed to Shafaq News agency that "members of the House of Representatives have collected signatures for the purpose of fairness to service department employees by adding a paragraph in the 2023 budget, which includes adjusting the salaries of workers in the Ministry of Construction and Housing."
