The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, confirmed today, Wednesday, that selling products outside the controls harms the national economy, while calling for coordination with the security forces to limit the abuses of pipelines and facilities.
Abdul-Ghani said, during his meeting with the Director General of the Energy Police, Major General Zafer Nazmi Jamal, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The task of protecting oil wealth is a joint responsibility that rests with the concerned authorities and the citizen as well,” noting that “the Ministry of Oil is a technical ministry whose mission is Maximizing and sustaining national production and increasing financial revenues to support the state treasury.”
He added, “The responsibility to protect oil wealth is one of the tasks of the security forces and authorities, including the energy police,” stressing that “the ministry has provided material and moral support to these forces and formed joint operations and coordination rooms in order to carry out its duties well.”
He pointed to the need for each party to assume its responsibility, and not to allow anyone who begged himself to transgress the national wealth, stressing the need for coordination between the security forces, the energy police and the Ministry of Oil to protect the national wealth.
