Despite the political problems that the Basra governorate previously witnessed, it is taking steady steps to rebuild it economically, while specialists believe that searching for new economic outlets away from oil revenues is the best solution for the governorate.

Large financial resources are generated by Basra, Iraq's economic gate, through the land and sea ports, which, according to specialists, need to develop its work to receive larger quantities of goods imported from international origins through the country's ports, while parliamentarians are calling for activating land transit between Iraq and neighboring countries.

Here, in the far south of Basra, the largest port, Umm Qasr, which accommodates millions of containers annually, needs to develop its work by adopting automation in order to control corruption in the ports and to facilitate the entry of containers according to an electronic system that does not allow manipulation.
According to specialists, the search for new economic outlets away from oil revenues is the surest solution for Iraq's economic future, because if the oil price rises in the market, the country will achieve high revenues, and if the oil price decreases, it will miss opportunities, which causes actual losses, the consequences of which may be disastrous for citizens.
