Today, Wednesday, the Communications and Media Commission announced plans to develop the communications service during the coming months, and while it confirmed that talking about increasing the prices of calling minutes and the Internet is incorrect, it stressed that the penalties for companies violating the decision to cancel the tax will be severe.
The head of the authority, Ali Al-Moayyed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the talk about increasing the prices of calling minutes and the Internet is incorrect," noting that "this rumor is intended to reduce the value of the decision to cancel the recharge card taxes that was voted on by the Council of Ministers."
Al-Moayad added, "The abolition of taxes is in the interest of citizens," noting that "an operations room has been formed with communication companies, which have informed all their official agents not to increase the price."
He explained that "what is currently happening in terms of an increase in packing cards are exceptional cases, mostly in districts, districts and remote areas, especially markets in those areas, where additional amounts are added to the cards."
He continued, "Our mobile teams, in cooperation with the National Security, are working to solve this issue," calling on citizens to "report the violators of the decision to cancel the cartel taxes, as they are a legal violation, by calling 177 or the National Security numbers."
And he indicated that "there is great cooperation from citizens," explaining that "complaints received through the number 177 of the Media and Communications Authority cannot be neglected."
He stressed that "the communication companies are committed to the decision to cancel the tax, and there will be strict penalties for the violating companies," pointing out that "holding shops that violate the pricing accountable is one of the duties of the National Security Agency."
"There are plans to improve the service and quality of communications in the coming months," he added.
