Baghdad / Obelisk: The Parliamentary Integrity Committee revealed, on Tuesday 13/12/2022, the total amounts recovered from the tax funds looted by the theft of the century, which were estimated at more than 3 trillion and 700 billion Iraqi dinars, to the state treasury.
A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Ali Turki Al-Jamali, said that the money recovered so far constitutes only 3% of the stolen amount, while the last amount recovered may constitute less than 1%.
He added that 10% of the amount is in the form of real estate inside Iraq, which has been seized by the state, while revealing that more than half of the amount has been smuggled abroad.
He added that the investigations concluded that the amount stolen was more than announced and could reach 8 trillion dinars.
He confirmed that the accused, Nour Zuhair, is under house arrest until all the amounts are recovered and he is tried.
And on the list of those accused of theft, a member of the Integrity Committee indicated that big heads in the previous government were involved in the incident.
He pointed out that a press conference will be held during the next two days, in which all the details reached by the committees from Parliament, Integrity, Financial Control and the Prime Minister's Office will be announced.
