He added, “Dirjal apologized to the Kuwaiti delegation for the difficulties it faced in entering the Palm Trunk Stadium, and the resulting departure of the representative of the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Chairman of the Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahd Al-Nasser, as well as the President of the Kuwaiti Federation and members of the Board of Directors.
And Darjal expressed, according to the statement, "his deep regret at the crowd scenes that occurred in front of the stadium and inside the main booth," stressing that "the Iraqi Federation, as well as those in charge of organizing the tournament, will take into account the necessity of avoiding what happened to ensure that the organizational process appears in the best way, starting from the matches of the second day.” for the championship.”
He pointed out that "what happened in terms of organizational matters will not affect the strength of the relationship between Iraq and Kuwait, especially at the sports level," pointing out that "the Kuwaiti Federation was one of the strongest supporters of holding the tournament in the city of Basra, whether through the visit of the President of the Kuwaiti Federation Abdullah Al-Shaheen and the accompanying delegation.” For him to the tournament stadiums about three weeks before it is held, or with the presence of the Kuwaiti national team to meet the Iraqi national team in a friendly way at the Olympic Port Stadium.
Darjal urged the masses to "continue support and support for the success of the tournament, which represents the gateway to the return of Iraqi sports to hosting sporting events after a long period of absence."
Yesterday, Friday, the Kuwait Football Association issued a statement regarding the withdrawal of the Kuwaiti delegation from the 25th Gulf Championship, while the Kuwaiti national team remained in the tournament competitions.
The federation said in a statement received by (Baghdad Today) that it expresses its "strong dissatisfaction" with what it described as "poor organization" at the opening ceremony of the 25th Gulf Championship.
And he indicated that the intense public stampede and crowding caused "it was not possible for the representative of the Emir of the country, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the head of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahd Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad, to enter the Palm Trunk Stadium," which prompted the withdrawal of the head of the Kuwaiti Football Association and his accompanying delegation from the opening ceremonies. .
The statement considered that in order to preserve the status of the tournament and support the brothers, the Kuwaiti national team will continue to participate in the activities of the tournament.
