Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced today, Sunday, that the commercial production of the Karbala refinery will start in mid-March, stressing the ministry's commitment to implementing the paragraphs of the government curriculum.
The Ministry of Oil said in a statement, a copy of which Mawazine News received, that "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani visited the Karbala Oil Refinery, and was briefed on the initial product models of the refinery."
During the visit, Abdul-Ghani said, "I saw the primary products after the trial operation of the first unit of the refinery with a capacity of 70,000 barrels, including "gasoline, kerosene, and kerosene", and it was according to the required and planned specifications," noting that "mid-March 2023 has been set as the starting date for Commercial production with gradually increasing energies, reaching the design capacity (140,000 barrels per day) at the end of next July.
He added, "The refinery's production is of high-octane gasoline with a degree of "95", with a capacity ranging from (8-9) million liters per day, and it can be increased to (12) million liters per day after the process of mixing it with the "naphtha" substance produced from the refinery, explaining that "The refinery's production will cover a large percentage of up to (75%) of domestic consumption, and the remaining percentage of imports will be covered from local production after developing a number of other refineries."
He stressed the "commitment of the ministry to implement the paragraphs of the government curriculum."
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, chaired a meeting attended by the Director General of the Central Refineries Company, Aed Omran, and the director of the refinery, Muhammad Fazaa, in addition to the director of the consortium of Korean companies "SC Park", the global consultant, a number of officials in the refinery, and the director of the media office.
He also conducted a field tour of the refinery, laboratories, and technical and administrative halls, praising "the role of workers in the oil formations for their dedication to work and contribution to supporting the national economy.
