A member of the Iraqi Parliament, Majid Shankali, stated that operating expenses in the budget (salaries) will exceed 61 trillion dinars annually.
Shankali said, "Salaries in the general budget will be more than 61 trillion Iraqi dinars," noting that "the government annually pays 13 trillion dinars to retirees only."
Shankali added, in an interview with the "Rudao" network, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the budget witnessed the addition of those whose contracts were terminated, and thus salaries estimated at about one trillion and 200 billion dinars were added annually."
He continued, "The salaries of the new appointments are estimated at about 2 trillion dinars, and they will be added to the operating budget, in addition to social welfare salaries, so the operating expenses will be very large, and I expect them to be more than 61 trillion Iraqi dinars."
