Today, Friday, the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture revealed the reasons for increasing the winter agricultural plan for the current season.
"Iraq worked to increase the winter agricultural plan in order to reach Iraqi self-sufficiency in (wheat)," ministry spokesman Muhammad al-Khuzai told (Baghdad Today).
He explained that "the increase in the agricultural plan will be allocated to wheat, as this is the season for its cultivation."
And Al-Khuzaie indicated that "there is difficulty with the issue of importing wheat, especially its high price in the global market, and for this Iraq is working during the next stage on self-sufficiency."
He concluded, stressing that "work continues to achieve this goal, especially after increasing the agricultural plan and the presence of water abundance, due to the recent rains."
