The statement added, "The meeting was attended by the Director General of International Cooperation, Dr. Saher Abdel-Kazem, who discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides in many aspects, especially with regard to programs and policies aimed at combating poverty and unemployment, according to the priorities set by the government program."
And the Minister of Planning expressed, “the Iraqi government’s desire to continue and develop cooperation with United Nations programs, including the Development Program, which provided great support to Iraq in the humanitarian and development aspects in the post-liberation phase,” calling on the program to “support the Iraqi government’s efforts in confronting climate change and reducing Its negative effects on vulnerable groups in society, pointing to the existence of plans and policies prepared by the Ministry of Planning for the transition to clean energy.
Lotsma appreciated "the efforts made by the Ministry of Planning in the development field," noting that "Iraq has many important opportunities, which the United Nations Development Program seeks to achieve more cooperation to invest these opportunities, and direct them towards development throughout the country." He added, "There is a strategy for joint action for the coming years, and the program is working to complete it and present it to the Iraqi government in the coming weeks."
