Al-Sudani: We will not tolerate those who manipulate the power of the people

Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani pledged not to tolerate or tolerate any party that manipulates the citizen's food, whether official or not, stressing that Iraq's financial situation is "very good" after the Central Bank's reserves reached about $100 billion, and while he announced yesterday, Monday, the launch of preparing the food basket for about 5 million and 100 thousand citizens covered by the social protection network, he decided to relieve the governor of the Central Bank of his post.
Al-Sudani said in a press conference during his visit to the “General Company for Foodstuff Trade” accompanied by the Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairy, and attended by “Al-Sabah”: “The next stage will witness the provision of all foodstuffs that the citizen needs,” noting that “the government plays the role of a merchant by importing Foodstuffs and selling them at reasonable prices to the citizen according to the official exchange rate, as it has the financial capacity for that.
He noted "the existence of a special basket for families below the poverty line who receive cash subsidy from the social protection network, and that securing this food basket in quantity and quality would address poverty for families who have no income other than what they receive from subsidies from the social protection network," and stressed that "our mission As a government, how do we keep these families in the face of prices and secure the items of the ration card so that it helps them to perpetuate their living conditions?
He stressed that "food stocks were (zero) in conjunction with the current government's handover, but now there is enough stock for three months," noting that "there are many ways to import foodstuffs and put them on the market at affordable prices for the citizen."
He stated, "Since the start of the government, we have made it clear that one of its most important priorities, which was included in the ministerial curriculum and the executive program, is to combat the phenomenon of poverty, which we targeted with practical measures, not just plans." Regarding the dollar file, the Prime Minister stressed that “the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar at the present time was not a government decision, but rather a mechanism agreed upon between the financial institutions and the central bank, to rationalize the process of selling the dollar through the window of selling the currency that we were criticizing because of the waste and money that comes out under cover.” Illegal trade, smuggling and money laundering.
He pointed out that "after the central bank's commitment to the new mechanism, and the provision of dollars for real businessmen and commerce for those who already import materials needed by the local market, there is no justification for raising the prices of imported materials, as the dollar is available at the official price of 1460 dinars, and it can be obtained to cover imports, so why resort to The black market?” He continued, “I reassure our people that there is no concern in this aspect, and it is just a conflict in the prices of my time.”
He stressed that "we are serious about applying the correct standards that guarantee the preservation of public money, preventing smuggling, money laundering and speculation, and we will not tolerate any official or unofficial party regarding the issue of citizens' food."
