Parliament fails to hold a “dollar rise” session

The efforts of dozens of deputies to hold a parliamentary session dedicated to discussing the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar and the accompanying rise in the prices of commodities and foodstuffs and its negative impact on the lives of citizens failed, at a time when economists saw that the government's solutions on the file were not at the required level.
A member of the House of Representatives, Basem Ngemish, called on the government to take appropriate solutions to solve the problem of the high exchange rate of the dollar, "and at the very least they should come to parliament to discuss this issue," noting that "the representatives will move to file a lawsuit against the Speaker of Parliament if he continues not to include the issue of the rise." The exchange rate of the dollar is on the agenda of the sessions.
Ngemish said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The representatives had previously submitted a request with the signature of 80 deputies to the presidency to include the issue in the work of the first session of the current legislative term, and the presidency approved its inclusion, but we were surprised that it was not actually included in the agenda, then there was a press conference." a group of deputies to object to the speaker's actions.
He added, "The Speaker of the House of Representatives hosted the governor of the Central Bank with a group of deputies in private, which was a matter to which he strongly objected, because most of the deputies wanted him to attend the parliament session to find out the reasons for the high exchange rate of the dollar," noting that "there are many questions among the deputies that need to be addressed." A clear and frank answer from the governor of the Central Bank and the government and knowledge of their solutions, from which we have not yet seen a positive impact.
And he continued: “We are still insisting on holding a session in the presence of the governor of the Central Bank and even the prime minister, because the issue is no longer tolerable. To file a case in court against the Speaker of Parliament, because we, as the people's representatives, took the legal means to include this issue on the agenda."
And Naghimish indicated that "the majority of the members of the council sense the danger of the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar, especially since the government or the concerned authorities do not explain the reasons in light of the proposal of solutions from experts and economists."
And the deputy of the State of Law coalition, Muhammad al-Ziyadi, said yesterday, Saturday, that more than 200 signatures were submitted to the Presidency of the House of Representatives to hold a special session to discuss the reasons for the fluctuation of the dollar exchange rate.
In turn, the economist Bassem Antoine said, "There is a process of manipulation and speculators in the file of selling the dollar, as the owners of money changers are not satisfied with the natural profit," calling for "addressing this matter seriously and resolutely for the return of the dollar to its normal state."
Antoine said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Central Bank pumps large sums of money into the exchanges, and there is supposed to be more demand than supply, and now the supply is available in sufficient quantities, so measures must be taken and the regulatory agencies are supposed to exercise their role seriously, just as there is A central bank's money laundering committee must work aggressively to rebalance and end this gap."
And he continued: “The rise in food prices is caused by traders controlling the dollar, and if there was a good food ration that was offered in the markets or there were central markets, there would be a treatment for the issue, because the treatment is not only by offering the dollar for circulation, because our economy is not productive but rather consumer and any noise in the market affects At the price of the dollar, food and health items are affected by it,” stressing that “there is a large monetary inflation, and if the matter remains like this, we will witness a recession in the markets, because the citizen will be unable to buy.”
