    The Municipality of Baghdad announced, on Wednesday, the initiation of an aerial and on-site survey of state-owned agricultural lands to convert them into residential ones, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 320.
    The administrative assistant to the Director of Municipality Relations and Media, Saad Al-Bukhati, said in a statement, "The municipal departments, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 320 and all previous decisions, including Resolution 581 of 1981 regarding converting the gender of state-owned agricultural lands into residential ones, began carrying out an aerial and on-site survey to inventory all lands to count the number of Fixed structures and residents within a period of 45 days.
    Al-Bukhati added, "Since the issuance of Resolution 320, the Council of Ministers has set a period of 90 days to complete the expropriation operations," noting that "the law allows the transfer of lands in which there is construction and regular services."
    He pointed out that "the law has many positive facts, including that the citizen used to live in an unofficial and random location, while he now has the right to own a house and a legal document, as well as take a loan from the housing fund and banks, in addition to reducing informal areas."
    Al-Bukhati stressed that "the Municipality is obligated, after converting the type or gender of lands, to provide all services and infrastructure, being within its administrative borders," pointing out that "there are 168 agricultural areas on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa. ".
