The dollar crisis prompted an expansion towards the state and its institutions carrying out commercial operations as a "competitor" to suspicious trade operations. A parliamentary request was directed for the state to carry out trade operations in all its forms, to address the dollar crisis, smuggling of goods, and tax evasion.
Representative Raed al-Maliki opened the prime minister’s office regarding the ministries of commerce and health carrying out the tasks of importing foodstuffs, basic commodities, and medicines through state companies to supply merchants and citizens directly with commodities at reasonable prices to prevent exploitation and as part of addressing the effects of dollar fluctuations on citizens, in addition to the fact that this step will address smuggling and the introduction of Unexamined goods and tax evasion, according to al-Maliki's document, which was seen by "Baghdad Today".
