    “Al-Akhbar” Erbil, Report: Daler Ibrahim – In the presence of representatives of diplomatic missions, consulates, institutions, relevant organizations, United Nations agencies, and the Coordinator of International Recommendations in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Reporters for Rights and Development announced today, Wednesday 1/25/2023, and with the support of the Independent Journalists Committee, Its annual report entitled (Breaking the Pens) on the situation of press freedom in the Kurdistan Region - Iraq, for the year 2022[/size]
    [size=45]At the outset of the ceremonies that took place in Erbil, Hozan Qadir, head of the Reporters Organization for Rights and Development, announced the content of the organization's second annual report, in which all violations and attacks against journalists and media institutions in all regions of the Kurdistan Region were listed, such as insults, torture, arrest, threats, and shooting of journalists and all kinds. Other attacks, and called on the competent authorities to play their roles to reduce these attacks.

    Then the journalist, Arshad Shawani, presented the information and statistics on these violations accurately and in detail.. For his part, Dr. Dindar Zebari, Coordinator of International Recommendations in the Kurdistan Regional Government, for paying attention and studying this report, and working to consolidate the principles of freedom of the press and media, and striving to consolidate the principles of human rights in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.[/size]
    [size=45]During the ceremony, the importance of freedom of expression and freedom of the media was emphasized, which is one of the most important features of development. All parties must ensure a suitable environment for the press and limit attacks. On the other hand, media institutions and journalists must deal responsibly and professionally with events and developments.[/size]
    [size=45]It is noteworthy that the Reporters for Rights and Development organization is one of the effective institutions to serve journalists and publishes periodically and annually reports on violations against journalists in the Kurdish, Arabic and English languages.[/size]
