The Ministry of Justice denied the existence of cases of torture in prisons affiliated with the correctional departments.
The ministry said in a statement, "While the Ministry of Justice appreciates all the efforts made to achieve international standards for the protection of human rights at all levels, especially in prison sections, the ministry follows up with great importance the allegations and observations in all matters related to prisons affiliated with the Ministry of Justice."
She stressed that there are no cases of torture in prisons affiliated with the correctional departments, and she has taken and will take strict measures against anyone found guilty of violating the principles of human rights in the correctional departments. Investigative committees will be sent to Nasiriyah prison to find out their authenticity.”
The Ministry of Justice invited the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, the MP and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Nasiriyah prison to find out the validity of these allegations and to see the measures taken by the Ministry of Justice to deter all violations.
