Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Justice responded, on Friday, to MP Raad Al-Dahlaki's accusations of "systematic genocide, torture and deprivation" in "Al-Hout Prison" in the city of Nasiriyah, announcing the dispatch of investigative committees to investigate these "allegations".
The ministry said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, "While the Ministry of Justice appreciates all the efforts made to achieve international standards for the protection of human rights at all levels, especially in prison departments, the ministry follows up with great importance the allegations and observations in all matters related to the prisons of the Ministry of Justice."

The Ministry affirmed, "There are no cases of torture in prisons affiliated with the correctional departments, and it has taken and will take strict measures against anyone found guilty of violating the principles of human rights in the correctional departments."
And she continued, "As a matter of the ministry's keenness to protect the rights of prisoners and to investigate every allegation in this regard, we will send investigative committees to Nasiriyah prison to find out its validity."
The Ministry called on the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, Representative Raad Al-Dahlaki and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Al-Nasiriyah prison to find out the validity of these allegations and see the measures taken by the Ministry of Justice to deter all violations.
Today, Friday, a member of the House of Representatives from Diyala Governorate, Raad Al-Dahlaki, revealed "systematic genocide, torture and deprivation" in Al-Hout prison in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq.
In a statement received by Shafaq News agency, Al-Dahlaki called on Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani and Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani to "urgently intervene and open an investigation into what is happening inside Al-Hout prison in Al-Nasiriyah governorate, in terms of a systematic process of extermination through torture and depriving prisoners of the most basic necessities of life."
The Nasiriyah Central Prison, or what is known as "Al-Hout Prison", is a maximum security prison located near Nasiriyah in Dhi Qar Governorate in Iraq. It is affiliated to the Iraqi Ministry of Justice and is the largest prison in southern Iraq, opened in 2008.
