An expert in the field of energy, Hamza Al-Jawahiri, considered, on Sunday, that the offers of the French company Total in Iraq are exaggerated.
Al-Jawahiry told "Al-Iqtisad News" that "the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani to France did not show its discussions to the media, but Total Company submitted an offer to establish 4 projects in Iraq."
He added, "The offers are exaggerated and valued at $26 billion for 4 projects only, as it is unreasonable to build a solar power plant that produces 1 gigawatt at a cost of $3.5 billion."
He pointed out that "Total Company requested that the Artawi field contract be a participation in production, which is contrary to the Iraqi constitution."
The Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia'a Al-Sudani, concluded his one-day visit to the French capital, Paris, yesterday.
The visit witnessed the signing of the strategic partnership agreement between Iraq and France, which included more than 50 items for cooperation and exchange in various fields.
The visit included the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding in; Fighting corruption, recovering Iraqi funds, protecting antiquities, supporting scientific research and training diplomats.
The visit also witnessed holding meetings with a number of representatives of major French companies in sectors; Energy, transportation, military armament and infrastructure.
