    Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced, on Monday, the ministry's intention to invite international companies to rebuild the North Refinery.

    The Ministry of Oil said, in a statement received by IQ NEWS, that Abdul-Ghani visited Al-Sumoud refineries in Baiji, toured its parts, inspected production units and departments, met workers, and listened to a briefing by the General Manager of the North Refineries Company, Qassem Abdul Rahman, about plans to increase refining capacity from the company's refineries.

    He praised "the national effort to raise the refining capacity to (115) thousand barrels per day for Salah al-Din refinery 1 and 2," saying that "the reconstruction, rehabilitation and operation of the Al-Sumoud refineries in Baiji is a source of pride for all Iraqis."

    He added, "We will invite international companies to rebuild the North Refinery, with a capacity of (150) thousand barrels per day," noting, "We seek to increase the refining capacity of Al-Samoud refineries to (300) thousand barrels per day."

    He stressed "support for sincere national efforts that contribute to speeding up the implementation of development projects that support the national economy."

    For his part, the Director General of the North Refineries Company, Qassem Abdul Rahman, indicated that "the total refining capacity of the North Refineries Company amounted to (215) thousand barrels per day, and it includes the capacity of (Kirkuk, Qayyarah, Al-Siniyah, Haditha, Al-Kask, Salah Al-Din refineries (1 and 2)

    Abdul Rahman added, "We have development projects to increase refining capacity in Haditha and Qayyarah refineries. "
