Trade Minister Atheer Al-Ghurairy pointed out that his ministry will exert all its weight in providing all foodstuffs during the coming period, pointing to the preparation of a plan to control the prices of materials in the market before the month of Ramadan.
Al-Ghurairy said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The food basket is the share of balance in the market before it is the share of individuals in securing their foodstuffs or distributing them to those covered by social care," noting that "distributing them to more than 5 million citizens will strengthen the market and curb the rise in prices due to exchange rate fluctuations.
He added that "trade will enter the markets with all its weight to compete to provide all materials, whether they are food, construction, or foodstuffs through import and reduce the prices of materials in the market." food and return it to a cheaper ceiling than it was in the past.
The Minister of Commerce vowed to "punish food agents who violate the ministry's instructions," pointing out that there are "harsher penalties in the coming stages, up to the extent of canceling the agency, while there will be very important rewards for agents who are dedicated to their work for citizens."
Regarding prices during the month of Ramadan, the Minister of Commerce explained that "there is a plan to monitor the market with the security services to combat any rise in it by some greedy people," ruling out "a rise in food prices because the ministry will intervene by subsidizing materials such as milk, zero flour, oil, sugar, and even table eggs." ".
