    Baghdad - Nas
The representative of Diyala province, who is close to the resigned Sadrist bloc, Burhan al-Mamouri, said that the members of the parliamentary committees were brought into a dark room and forced to choose the presidents.

Al-Mamouri said in a statement followed by “NAS” (January 31, 2023), that “today (yesterday) we witnessed a dangerous precedent in selecting committee chairs that did not happen throughout the history of the House of Representatives, as the members of the committees were entered into a hall containing a dark room in which the chairs sit. The political blocs lure a deputy to direct and threaten him to choose a pre-agreed committee chair, despite the fact that most of the deputies are not convinced of the candidates.

He added, "The abhorrent quota system has emerged in its ugliest form in the selection of committee chairs amid lack of jurisdiction, absence of professionalism, and the inclusion of some incompetent elements by some political blocs, in exchange for depriving competent and respected personalities, a number of independents, and representatives of minorities from enabling them to exercise their oversight and legislative role."

And he continued, "The House of Representatives has become run by some political blocs that implement what they want to preserve their gains and work to marginalize the emerging political blocs because of their taking the position of the opposition and turning a blind eye to the suffering of citizens, especially the poor and fragile classes, as a result of the continuous rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar."

He pointed out that "some of the political blocs that have taken over all positions in the government have now taken control of all the positions of heads of parliamentary committees in order to implement their agenda, serve their interests, consolidate their influence and control over important joints in the executive and legislative powers, and deliberately absent those with experience and integrity."
