    Alsumaria News - Localities

    , Minister of Planning Muhammad Tamim and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, revealed the details of the "integration" project funded by the US Agency for International Development in Iraq.


    A joint statement by the minister and the ambassador, attended by Alsumaria correspondent, stated that "the Performance Improvement and Good Governance Project (Takamul) funded by the United States Agency for International Development from June 2017 to June 2023, the Takamul project worked on developing the capacities of the government and civil society organizations in order to strengthen public services and administration. Finance, mobilizing societal control over public expenditures, contributing to mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and supporting private sector investments. Among the most important achievements of the project during the past six years:






    - Accelerating the supply and contracting process for 495 projects worth $3.6 billion in various service sectors, as 195 projects worth $943.5 million were referred for implementation.

    -Improving the operation of 72 vital water stations, resulting in an increase in water supplies by 30%.

    - Increasing the response time capacity for maintenance of electricity distribution on broken neighborhood transformers by 85.

    - Developing a 10-year master plan for transmission and distribution networks for the Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government.

    governorates.

    Involving civil society organizations and community groups to carry out more than 1,000 awareness campaigns (reaching more than a million citizens) to rationalize water consumption, maintain clean cities, mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to it, and encourage citizens to use renewable energy and regular connection to the national water network

    . KRG in implementing a biometric payroll system to reduce transaction time, errors and duplication.

    -Working with farmers in eight governorates on the latest climate-smart agriculture practices to address soil overload, desertification, and rising temperatures.

    Facilitating financial support for more than 60 small and medium enterprises for more than one million dollars.
    Providing business development services to about 500 companies to develop their skills and increase job opportunities.

    Worked with 127 farmers to prepare a nutritional value chain analysis of tomatoes, dates, potatoes, dairy products, and wheat in six governorates to improve agribusiness and increase its revenues.
