Yesterday, Tuesday, the US Embassy in Baghdad offered the Ministry of Electricity to help build a system, which it described as world-class.
"Iraqis deserve a diversified, modern economy and well-paid jobs," Ambassador Elena Romanowski said, in a tweet followed by Al-Mada.
Romanowski stressed the need to "build an electricity system in Iraq on a global level."
And she indicated, "The United States is ready to work with the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, and the Iraqi government to carry out this important endeavour."
On the other hand, a member of the Coordination Framework, Ibrahim Al-Sakini, stated that “there is a decision by all political blocs not to accept the US interventions that took place in the previous period.”
Al-Sukaini added, "Washington sensed the seriousness and danger of the government of Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani in opening up to countries that have expressed their willingness to support the energy and electricity sector in Iraq."
He pointed out that "America deals with the issue of electricity as a political card that it presses on Iraq whenever it wants," pointing out that "we do not know where America has been throughout the past period without moving in the development of the electricity sector at the present time in particular."
Concerning the conclusion of international agreements and not giving in to US pressure, Al-Sukaini said, "The government is continuing with all agreements concluded with the countries that the Sudanese visited in the last period, and they will be activated after preparing the atmosphere for them."
