    Today, Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of reviewing the numbers of members of the provincial councils in the new draft law, during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Supreme Coordinating Committee for Provincial Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Ahmed Al-Fatlawi.


    The media office of the Presidency of the Republic said, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that "the President of the Republic spoke during the meeting about the necessity of field visits to the governorates to find out the size of the problems and challenges facing citizens and work to overcome them," pointing to "the need to support the governorates, their budgets, and the services provided to their people, and the need to activate The provisions of the constitution and laws in relation to administrative decentralization and the transfer of powers to the governorates, in a way that helps in combating and eliminating corruption and improving the general level of the governorates.






    The President of the Republic stated, "The importance of reviewing the numbers of members of the provincial councils in the draft law amending the law of governorates that are not organized in a region," pointing to "the need to address the disbursement of funds allocated to the provinces to advance their urban and service reality, in addition to establishing new cities integrated in the services provided and infrastructure."

    He stressed that "security and political stability will help open horizons for investment, and he also indicated the importance of developing these opportunities to advance the country's reality and ensure the well-being and stability of the people."
    In this context, the President of the Republic directed "the establishment of a citizen's complaints fund for the Presidency of the Republic."

    In turn, Dr. Al-Fatlawi indicated that "the committee will play a coordinating role with the Presidency of the Republic by reviewing the reports of each governorate in an integrated manner." He explained the government's keenness to activate petrodollar allocations and pay them directly to the governorates, and the Development Fund for Iraq and the Reconstruction Fund for the poorest governorates were also established. .
