Al-Asadi: About two million are unemployed

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced that more than 200,000 people receive the salaries of people with disabilities and special needs, indicating that there are nearly two million unemployed in Iraq.
The minister said in a press conference held in Baghdad: The ministry has received 600,000 applications related to obtaining social assistance, 170,000 of which have been excluded because their owners are not covered by the instructions and controls, and 430,000 remain, announcing the start of referring applicants according to pre-prepared criteria, i.e. 430,000 have priority according to submission. Through presentation to medical committees.
He added that the number of beneficiaries of the salary of persons with disabilities and special needs is 214 thousand beneficiaries in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the provinces, calling for the need to amend the law for people with disabilities because of the defect related to the full-time helper.
Regarding the numbers of the unemployed in Iraq, the minister said: "We have one million and 700 thousand unemployed and they are registered with the Directorate of Vocational Education, and we will launch a platform for them at the beginning of next March to register them for granting them loans for income-generating projects."
Al-Asadi continued by saying, "We raised the allocations for income-generating projects in the budget to more than a trillion dinars, and the loan in them reaches 50 million, and it will not be less than 20 million."
